Really...?

Last night I was watching telly when I was hit in the face with a whole bucket of sad.

I don't recall what I was watching, but a television commercial came on that about made me cry.
An advertisement for "some-website-where-you-can-print-off-stamps-online" (I'm ad-libbing--no pun intended--the schpeel) showed how various Americans find it "so easy" to print stamps off the internet for their "home or business" needs. Doesn't seem too saddening, right? If only used once in a while, I guess it could be beneficial.

But this was the ending line:
"Use *such-and-such-website*--and never go to the post office again."

...

Need I say anymore? What kind of ridiculousness are we up against, my fellow mail-lovers??
If you share my anger/sadness/confusion, stand up and go to the post office. Buy some postage stamps and prove to yet another postal employee that you support them in their endeavours to keep the postal service alive.

If I had a commercial that was PRO-postal (something which it seems crazy not to be), it's final line would be this:
"Buy postage stamps at the post office. And love it. Because they're postage stamps...from a post office."

You feelin' me on this one??

Outgoing

Allow me to begin this post by extending my apologies for how long it has taken me to reach this post. A lot of things have been very busy lately and I just haven't had the time I have wanted to dedicate to my blog. I do aim, at least for while this period of craziness continues, to write at least twice a week! Thank you, as always, for your patience.

Here are some outgoings from about a week ago, some of which have already reached their recipients:

I love the Halloween theme, and the upcycled magazine styles. I am also loving using my typewriter...as always!

A letter to S., in the U.S.A.

I found out from my good pal Bill at the postoffice, after this letter was returned to me, that it was too thick and I needed more postage on it! This one was a $1.95 piece! Notice the MadLibs writing for the mail envelope part? Love recycling!

A first-letter to new penpal S., in Australia. Using faux-postage stamps, paper-tape, magazine cutouts and my typewriter for the full effect. LOVE IT!



And, of course, it needed a wax seal!

Delays!

I do apologise, my readers out there, that postings have been rather nonexistent here for the past couple of weeks. I have had a lot of busy-ness going on, and while I have still been sending and receiving, I just haven't had a whole lot of time to write about it! I do, however, aim to write a nice post at some point this weekend!

Something Fantastic.

Back to the Grind

My apologies for my lag in posting. Summer is now over (most unfortunately), which means that life is now returning the normal "grind" of day-to-day.

I have received three pieces of mail since I last wrote, but have not yet had the chance to reply.

However, the lovely Bill at the local post office (the teensy one of which my heart is now forever dedicated to) has promised me that mail is on its way. I have ventured to that post office every single afternoon for the past week, but nothing has arrived. I'm thinking that some of it might have to do with these odd weather patterns. Nonetheless--we (Bill and I) have concluded that mail must be somewhere along the route! So I have faith that the wonderful mail is on its way!
