Alright, alright!!

cos-mo-post-al-an [koz-muh-postal-en]: adjective/noun
1. a person
who belongs to all the world; not limited to just one part of the world; can make their home anywhere in the world.
2. a person who believes fully that postage stamps and mail connect the world, regardless of where, from or to, they go.
3. the joyful experience of knowing you're a local because your mail made it to its destination
.

The postage stamp is truly wonderful. It can travel the world, experience the lives of a million different people, go through the doors of strangers; and never once lose sight of where it's headed.
Welcome to the land of cosmopostalan : travel, mail and words. It's a crazy little place in my corner of the woods; wherever that may be!

Really...?

Last night I was watching telly when I was hit in the face with a whole bucket of sad.

I don't recall what I was watching, but a television commercial came on that about made me cry.
An advertisement for "some-website-where-you-can-print-off-stamps-online" (I'm ad-libbing--no pun intended--the schpeel) showed how various Americans find it "so easy" to print stamps off the internet for their "home or business" needs. Doesn't seem too saddening, right? If only used once in a while, I guess it could be beneficial.

But this was the ending line:
"Use *such-and-such-website*--and never go to the post office again."

...

Need I say anymore? What kind of ridiculousness are we up against, my fellow mail-lovers??
If you share my anger/sadness/confusion, stand up and go to the post office. Buy some postage stamps and prove to yet another postal employee that you support them in their endeavours to keep the postal service alive.

If I had a commercial that was PRO-postal (something which it seems crazy not to be), it's final line would be this:
"Buy postage stamps at the post office. And love it. Because they're postage stamps...from a post office."

You feelin' me on this one??

Incoming

I have had some nice incoming this week, especially from some people that I wasn't expecting to hear from! Here are their lovely letters:

From R., in Australia. Our last correspondence was lost in translation, so it is nice to be back in touch!

And those gorgeous AustraliaPost stamps are lovely to see again too!

A lovely first letter from N., in U.S.A.

Love the faux-typewriter/stamp look! And those gorgeous silhouettes!

A consistent First-Class stamp from dear E., in U.S.A.

A long-awaited letter from B., in U.S.A.

Two letters, and two sets of postage, from C., in U.S.A.

It's always so nice to receive mail after a stagnant period of no mail! I would love to hear all about your mail experiences! Let me know!

Outgoing

Allow me to begin this post by extending my apologies for how long it has taken me to reach this post. A lot of things have been very busy lately and I just haven't had the time I have wanted to dedicate to my blog. I do aim, at least for while this period of craziness continues, to write at least twice a week! Thank you, as always, for your patience.

Here are some outgoings from about a week ago, some of which have already reached their recipients:

I love the Halloween theme, and the upcycled magazine styles. I am also loving using my typewriter...as always!

A letter to S., in the U.S.A.

Another example of magazine usage--this one to L., in the U.S.A.

I found out from my good pal Bill at the postoffice, after this letter was returned to me, that it was too thick and I needed more postage on it! This one was a $1.95 piece! Notice the MadLibs writing for the mail envelope part? Love recycling!

A first-letter to new penpal S., in Australia. Using faux-postage stamps, paper-tape, magazine cutouts and my typewriter for the full effect. LOVE IT!

And, of course, it needed a wax seal!

A cheery cherry reply to a first letter from N., in the U.S.A.

And some optimal usage of my typewriter stamp to do just that!

Letter to my dear friend E., in the U.S.A.

Aerogramme to my dear friend C., in the U.S.A.

I have also received a lot of lovely mail, which I shall post next! I sure hope everyone has had some lovely mail-days! Best and cheers!

Delays!

I do apologise, my readers out there, that postings have been rather nonexistent here for the past couple of weeks. I have had a lot of busy-ness going on, and while I have still been sending and receiving, I just haven't had a whole lot of time to write about it! I do, however, aim to write a nice post at some point this weekend!
Until then--trust me; it shall happen!!

Thank you for being patient--

Something Fantastic

Something Fantastic.

I have decided to spread a little more joy in this world. I have made a list of thirty things that I am going to do in the next month in order to bring more joy to more people. It is out of my own aim to do good with what I can where I am. I will post after each thing is completed.

Thirty Days of Happiness to bring smiles, happiness, and the reminder than kindness is such a wonderful thing.

Something Fantastic 1.

A gift to a wonderful woman.
AIM: To inspire someone.

Incoming and Outgoing

Before I unleash the joy of something fantastic, or extra-fantastic in this case--because mail is always fantastic, I would like to share my incoming and outgoing with you.

Incoming

Above: From my dear aunt A., in Florida. Isn't that stationary the absolute best??

Above: From the lovely B., in Boston. He made the entire envelope relate to "The Love Of Food". Genius.

Above: As always, a lovely underwater experience from my dear A., in Australia.

Above: A beautiful piece of mail from M., in Hawaii. I love her calligraphy! Isn't it gorgeous?? And I found it (am still finding it) hard to get over how wonderful the colours coordinate in this piece!! Gold, brown, black--perfect!!

Outgoing

Above: To the lovely B., in Boston. Note the usage of my favourite stamp collection!

Above: The A., in Australia. Halloween-themed!

Above: To aunt A., in Florida. Utilising those aerogrammes!!

Above: Some retro-drawings on their way to E., in Illinois, and M., in Hawaii!

A good mail week, I think! Can't wait to be receiving some more mail here soon!
Send mail!

Something Fantastic

Although these past few weeks have not heralded a lot of mail, I've still been very interested in ways to "send and receive". And so, with that idea in mind, I've been figuring out something fantastic.

I'll be sharing very soon, and hope you follow along with me!

And, today--lest we forget those men and women who were lost on this day eleven years ago.

Share the love--

Back to the Grind

My apologies for my lag in posting. Summer is now over (most unfortunately), which means that life is now returning the normal "grind" of day-to-day.

I have received three pieces of mail since I last wrote, but have not yet had the chance to reply.

However, the lovely Bill at the local post office (the teensy one of which my heart is now forever dedicated to) has promised me that mail is on its way. I have ventured to that post office every single afternoon for the past week, but nothing has arrived. I'm thinking that some of it might have to do with these odd weather patterns. Nonetheless--we (Bill and I) have concluded that mail must be somewhere along the route! So I have faith that the wonderful mail is on its way!

Shall post a photo entry this weekend, but until then--
